One of my dearest friends once told me that life gets better with time, true to his word we have seen life change for better through thick and thin for the past 15 years we were together.
We first met each other when we were 16 and held on to each other ever since. But education kept us apart from each other as we had to live in different countries.
Tharaka lived in Germany and me in Australia and then in India. Both of us made friends with people from different parts of the world and with it, we came to know different tastes each one of them had and cuisine they came to love. This was the basis for both of us to explore cooking. He loved cooking since his childhood he would always enjoy how others enjoyed food whenever he had friends around.
We settled down for good in Sri Lanka about 2 years back and started building our lives. Tharaka works as Technology entrepreneur and does product development, and I work as a medical microbiology lecturer. We both have busy lives with work and responsibilities taking a better part of our time. But no matter how fast life moves we don’t forget to do what we love, which is to cook amazing food. We call it a hobby and enjoys making different kinds of dishes.
When we take home cooked meals for lunch colleagues would ask as for recipes and where to source ingredients from. So, we decided to share our cooking stories with all who like to try food from around the world. So first we started our Instagram feed, agourmetstory. when we saw that it has good reception, we wanted to give a better experience and connect with food enthusiasts, so we started our own blog, www.gourmetstory.com. You will find recipes for new and known dishes here and steps wise instructions as to how to make them. Still our blog a gourmet story is very small, but we want to share more and more recipes and talk about gourmet food experience in Sri Lanka. We will also explore where to find speciality ingredients and how to select them. Both of us enjoy putting our time into this and hope it would help many others connect with food enthusiast like ourselves.
Sri Lanka has a lot to offer when it comes to food, we have influence from all over Asia and from some parts of Europe and there are many types of native cuisines. We will explore national and international food as well as novel recipes which are tasty and healthy.
